The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial management, reporting, and control systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information. The role supports strategic decision-making, optimizes financial performance, and ensures adherence to corporate policies and statutory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Overseeing the preparation and submission of accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
- Ensuring timely posting of all year-to-date entries, provisions, depreciation, and foreign exchange revaluation.
- Preparing management accounts for review by the Board of Directors.
- Conducting monthly reconciliations between the General Ledger and all sub-ledgers (vendors, customers, inventories, banks, etc.).
- Reviewing and approving expense invoices, ensuring correct allocation by department, project, and brand.
- Verifying compliance with company policies and assigning allocation codes for ERP processing.
- Controlling non-sales purchases, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and properly authorized.
- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the CFO and department heads.
- Monitoring actual results against budget and providing variance analysis with actionable insights.
- Implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with group policies.
- Ensuring adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Supporting internal and external audits by preparing reports and responding to audit queries.
- Managing cash flow and liquidity to meet operational and investment needs.
- Reviewing and authorizing bank reconciliations, payments, and transfers.
- Monitoring foreign exchange exposure and supporting risk mitigation strategies.
- Supervising accounting and finance staff, providing guidance and ensuring high performance.
- Promoting continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and controls.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 5 – 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or controller role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
