Plant Process Chemist - Limassol Desalination Plant - Limassol, Cyprus

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Plant Process Chemist to take over the operation of a fully functional laboratory within our Desalination Plant. This role involves conducting all required contractual laboratory tests and procedures to ensure optimal water quality, plant performance, and regulatory compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Taking over the existing fully functioning Laboratory with all its equipment, manuals and operational equipment.
  • Carrying out the required contractual laboratory tests and procedures for the Desalination Plant Laboratory,
  • Maintaining a clear, tidy and safe laboratory.
  • Maintaining all laboratory equipment in good working order.
  • Calibrating all Laboratory and plant water quality instruments.
  • Supervising and/ or ensuring laboratory analysis done during shift work and outside normal working hours., providing daily reports and recommendations, and reporting to the management immediately any findings of the laboratory analyses.
  • Producing process data sheets and reports as required by the management.
  • Preparing the monthly sheets for product water chemistry, water quantity and other monthly reports, for the approval of the plant manager, to be submitted to the client at the end of each month.
  • Preparing reports to be submitted to the Water Development Department.
  • Collecting data and information as required for the Department of Environment and preparing the relevant laboratory analyses and daily, monthly and annual reports.
  • Carrying out designated process monitoring tasks in a professional and diligent manner.
  • Being in continuous communication with the shift operators and maintenance staff for suggesting necessary action to avoid affecting the plant performance.
  • Attending plant emergencies or critical and urgent cases.
  • Learning the basics and operating the Plant via the PLC system.
  • Acting as permanent member of the safety committee.
  • Ordering Chemicals for the Plant and Laboratory.
  • Checking the quality of any chemicals arriving to the plant.
  • Staying up to date with and performing all safe chemical analysis procedures and equipment in the lab established for monitoring the quality of water at designated areas of the plant.
  • Completing any other assignment may be designated by the management deriving from investigations/ research work carried out for the improvement and/ or maintenance of the plant performance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position within an industrial environment.
  • Hands on Chemist with proven bench experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Good knowledge of English language is required.

You agree that subject to the completion of the recruitment process and provided that you receive a conditional offer for employment, you will go through a Fit-For-Work assessment by the Company’s Doctor. The Doctor defines the medical tests needed and performs the examination. You will need to sign a Data Privacy consent with the Company Doctor.
