Job Overview
The Credit Control Officer will join the Finance Department of our Team based in Aspropyrgos, Athens, Greece.
The Credit Control Officer will support the day-to-day operations of the credit control function, with a primary focus on monitoring customer collections, following up with customers, and handling related credit control activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reviewing customer balances, monitoring overdue amounts, and arranging collections.
- Preparing cash flow and credit control reports, monitoring customer cash inflow, and analyzing bad debts, slow-moving receivables, and DSO trends.
- Opening new customers in the ERP and collecting information on new customers (credit agency checks, supplier references, and financial statements) based on Group Policies.
- Reviewing, approving, and releasing customer orders in line with credit limits and internal controls.
- Maintaining the procedural framework for Credit & Collection operations and implementing improvements where required in the existing procedures.
- Ensuring that receivables are converted into cash in a timely manner through effective collection techniques, while keeping bad debts at a minimum level.
- Applying credit policies and procedures, while taking calculated risks to support revenue growth.
- Communicating with customers and banks regarding returned or unpaid cheques.
- Preparing monthly customer reconciliations for key accounts.
- Preparing and communicating the daily collections schedule to the collectors.
Skills & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, lookups, reconciliations, and reporting, with very good knowledge of the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively across more than one reporting and decision-making centre.
